Work

Sites, apps and solutions.

  • Blue Ridge Bliss

    Website, Client work · live

A 16-guest cabin in Blue Ridge, Georgia

Angela and Rich wanted guests to book with them directly instead of through Airbnb and Vrbo. We built the site together, round by round, and launched it on their own domain.

    Visit the live site
    • A custom website with their live Hospitable booking calendar
    • A room-by-room photo gallery, local area guides, a guest FAQ and guest reviews
    • Their domain moved over, with email and the Guest Portal untouched
    • Google Vacation Rentals updated, and “Book direct” postcards with a QR code
The House page of the Blue Ridge Bliss site on desktop: the cabin’s wrap-around deck, the listing summary and the live booking calendar
The Blue Ridge Bliss home page on desktop: a dusk photo of the cabin behind the headline “A private Blue Ridge mountain retreat for sixteen, with its own pickleball court” and an orange Check availability button
The Blue Ridge Bliss home page on a phone: the cabin at dusk behind the headline “A private Blue Ridge mountain retreat for sixteen, with its own pickleball court” and an orange Check availability button
  • Holiday pre-orders

    System, Client work · live

Replaces a Cincinnati butcher shop’s turkey-order spreadsheet: quick entry, search and prep lists for staff, and phone-first ordering for customers. Live for its first season this Thanksgiving.

The change history on a demo order: the pickup moved from Wednesday, November 25 to Monday, November 23 after the order was placed online, with a box for staff notes
Demo data: the customer order page on a phone, step 2 of 5: “Choose your turkey & sides”, whole turkeys by weight range with plus and minus buttons, the suggested 15–18 lb bird added and a Choose pickup day button
Demo data: the customer order page on a phone, step 1 of 5: “How many guests?” set to 12, with a suggested 15–18 lb turkey and an Add this turkey button
    • Order entry that starts from a phone number, with every change logged: who, when and what
    • Search by phone, name or order number from any screen
    • Prep lists, a pickup counter for the shop’s iPad and an export back to Excel
    • Customers place, change or cancel their own orders until the deadline

Built with Next.js, Postgres and Vercel.

  • Mother Bagels

    Website, In progress

A catering-first website, in review with the owners, for a Cincinnati sourdough bagel caterer: a step-by-step catering inquiry and the shop’s own photos throughout.

The Mother Bagels home page in progress on desktop: “handcrafted sourdough bagels” in red script on cream paper, a Plan your catering button and a collage of bagel and catering photos
The Mother Bagels home page in progress on a phone: the red wordmark, “handcrafted sourdough bagels”, a short welcome and a full-width Plan your catering button
    • A four-step catering inquiry with a running rough estimate
    • Built to pull in the shop’s Instagram photos automatically, with local photos as a fallback
    • Three design directions for the owners to choose from

Built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS and Vercel.

  • Brand hubs

App, For a brand studio, Shown with Newt’s own brand

One private link per client to copy colors, download logos and check fonts. Built for a two-person brand studio, which now owns the code.

A brand hub’s Logo files section, shown with Newt’s own brand: the NEWT wordmark and lockup in six colorways, each with a Download button
The brand hub’s pairing builder on a phone, shown with Newt’s own brand: color pairings to pick from, a contrast grade, download buttons and the Newt mark in Ink on periwinkle
    • Logo downloads as SVG, PDF and PNG, one at a time or zipped, and a builder for approved color pairings with contrast grades
    • Click-to-copy colors, type cards and a plain-text brand summary for AI tools
    • A password per client, so each hub stays private
    • Handed over in a repository the studio owns, set up so it can edit brands with Claude Code

Built with Next.js, Sanity and Vercel.

  • Burger restaurant redesign

    Website, Concept

An unsolicited redesign concept for a Cincinnati-area burger restaurant, made for phones: the whole menu as real text, an ‘open now’ status, and Call one tap away.

The burger restaurant concept’s story band on desktop: “From pasture to bun” in a soft serif on meadow green under a rolling hill edge, and three round illustrations on one line: a pasture with a sun and a red barn, a patty and a bun
The burger restaurant concept’s menu on a phone: the specialty burgers as two-up green tiles with serif names, above a floating pill with Call, Directions and Menu
    • The whole menu as real, phone-readable text, set like a menu board
    • An ‘open now’ status worked out from the weekly hours
    • Call and Directions one tap away on every screen
    • Three design directions to compare in one site

Built with Next.js, Tailwind CSS and Vercel.

  • Kyle’s iPod

    App, Personal project

His own iPod Video, in its blue case, rebuilt for the web: a working click wheel, the menus, four games and his music, on any phone or computer.

The iPod’s screen mid-game in Brick: rows of rainbow bricks, a ball and a paddle, Score 10, Level 1
Kyle’s iPod rebuilt for the web: a black iPod Video in a blue case, on its main menu with Music highlighted above the click wheel
    • A click wheel you drag around on a phone, or turn with a scroll wheel, trackpad or arrow keys
    • His songs streamed from private storage, with offline downloads
    • Plays to other speakers over AirPlay and Google Cast
    • Installs on a phone’s Home Screen like an app

Built as a progressive web app on Cloudflare, with Web Audio.

Let’s talk.

Not sure where to start? That’s completely fine. I’m happy to talk it through for free, with no commitment needed.

Why a newt?

It’s named for two Newts I love: Newt Dobbs from Lonesome Dove, my favorite book, and Newt from Aliens.

Both of them work alone. So do I. It makes for a very short org chart, and you always know who’s building your site.
